About Wayside Waifs

Wayside Waifs is Kansas City's largest and most comprehensive no kill pet adoption campus. Since 1944, Wayside Waifs has provided life-saving care to abandoned, abused and homeless animals. Wayside Waifs is dedicated to giving innocent, deserving companion animals a second chance at happy, healthy lives. It is only through the generosity of our friends and donors that we are able to provide:

Care for all...animals at our shelter in need of tender loving care. Volunteers and staff members care for each animal as their own. From life-saving medical treatment to providing positive behavior training, together as a community of volunteers, staff and donors, we provide care that improves the lives of every Waif.

Compassion for all...animals who have been hurt or are scared. Compassion for people who can no longer care for their pets and count on us to do so...compassion for people who have to say good-bye to a beloved pet with grace and respect...compassion for all.

Commitment to all...animals who were found on the streets, surrendered by their owner or were transferred to Wayside Waifs from another shelter. Wayside Waifs is committed to improving the quality of life for animals and people in our community and celebrating the profound bond between us all.
