In Loving Memory of Patrick Tobin
On October 10, 2021, Patrick Tobin passed away after living with metastatic melanoma, a form of aggressive skin cancer, for three years. He was just 32 years old.
To know Patrick was to know he was a lover of all cats, and after meeting his husband Michael, eventually dogs, too. They are the proud fathers of two rescue cats, Perry and Hamilton, as well as a Labrador Retriever named Stanley. One time when asked what super power he would want, Patrick stated he would want the ability to summon all the cats in the world to come to him at once. He acknowledged how in reality this would be overwhelming and horrifying, but he still wanted the power anyway.
To commemorate our love for Patrick and his love of animals, we are raising $100,000 for Wayside Waifs, a no-kill animal shelter in Kansas City that houses 6000 homeless animal every year. With that money, Wayside will be able to perform several upgrades to the shelter. In particular, most of the funds will go to much-needed renovations to their cat sunroom.
Wayside Waifs will be permanently naming the cat sunroom after Patrick. The sunroom is where adopters meet their potential new furry family member. It also provides mental and physical enrichment for cats and kittens as they wait for their forever homes. We cannot think of a more perfect way to remember our husband, son, brother and friend.
Will you join us in remembering Patrick by helping us raise $100,000 by donating? All donation amounts add up to making a huge difference in the lives of these animals and to forever remember Patrick.
Gifts can also be made by check (payable to Wayside Waifs), Donor Advised Fund, stocks, or over the phone with a credit card by calling 816-986-4410. Mail gifts to: Wayside Waifs, Attn: Patrick Tobin Memorial, 3901 Martha Truman Rd., KCMO 64137.
